Millions of patients do not seek the care they need because of the fear or anxiety of dental treatment. Fortunately, high quality dental care can now be provided using oral sedation (pills or I.V.) medications that will relax you, put you in a sleep-like state and allow you to have a comfortable dental treatment and later have little or no memory of the procedure. Often, treatment can be completed in just one or a few extended but relaxed and sedated visits that would otherwise have taken more.
This is a very exciting opportunity for patients who have had reservations on completing needed dental treatment due to being fearful of the dental office. Dr. Noor provides many forms of sedation and twilight dentistry that best fits each individual’s particular needs. Read more about sedation dentistry here.
Fear of dental treatment is a major factor that demotivates people from visiting a dentist. The fear pushes patients to endure toothache, which in turn compromises their oral health. As a solution to this problem, dental care providers use sedation that help patients relax during dental treatment. The sedative recommended/administered to patients is based on their anxiety level. At our dental office, patient comfort comes first to us in all our dental services. We believe that active participation of patients in our dental procedures can keep them informed about dental care. Our twilight sleep dentistry has helped us relieve patients from anxiety, encouraging them take care of oral health. As a result, our patients do not hesitate to make an appointment with our dentist for their regular dental checkup. At our dental offices in Norwalk and Lakewood, patients can feel more relaxed and comfortable with our mild, moderate or deep twilight sleep sedation, while our dentist is busy treating their problem.
Nitrous oxide is used as a mild sedative. The gas works well in reducing the anxiety and providing a euphoric sensation. The patient can quickly recover from the sedation process. The mild sedative is inhaled and may not require any monitoring system for support.
Moderate sedation is a step above mild sedative. This process is recommended for patients who are more anxious and require a strong sedative to keep them relaxed. The dentist may recommend oral sedative. The process requires monitoring system, to check the respiration, heart rate and blood pressure level continuously.
Deep sedation is achieved for patients who do not want to remember anything about the dental procedure. Patients may be less sensitive to verbal commands and are completely relaxed. IV sedation is the most widely followed procedure to achieve deep sedation. The process is quickly reversible. Our trained professionals monitor patients during the course. Our dentist advises patients on steps that must be followed before and after the treatment. They should be escorted to our office and back home by a caretaker and should not handle any machinery for about 6 to 8 hours after the sedation process.
A dental bridge has one or two anchoring crowns and false tooth/teeth to replace the lost tooth/teeth. Natural teeth or dental implants can support the anchoring crowns. The teeth should be prepared to create space for placing anchoring crowns. Teeth preparation involves removal of some portion of top layers. This is done with the help of local anesthesia. Once the teeth are prepared, our dentist takes impressions and gets the dental bridge fabricated in the lab. Temporaries are placed over the prepared teeth until the final bridge is ready to be fixed in place. On successful completion of the process and proper oral care, the dental bridge may last for 10 years or more. At our dental offices in Norwalk and Lakewood, dental bridge restoration is one of the dental services we offer. Our dental care has helped in improving oral health of many patients from the city and surrounding communities.
Gums form an important part of the oral cavity. They protect the roots by sealing the teeth from food debris and harmful bacteria. The bacterial inflammation of these soft tissues can lead to a gum infection. If not taken care in time, the infection can destroy gums and cause the teeth to fall out. Periodic dental visits can help you prevent gum infection and improve the quality of life. Dr. Asmath Noor has several years of experience in the field of general dentistry and sedation dentistry. Our comprehensive treatment has protected oral health of many families living in Norwalk, Lakewood and surrounding communities. Treating gum infection is an important part of an overall dental hygiene protocol. Our treatment to gum problems has created healthy smiles in our patients.
Amalgam used for dental fillings is a combination of mercury, tin and other metals. Though American Dental Association has confirmed that the amount of mercury released from amalgam fillings over its lifetime is too less to be harmful, people are more health conscious and turning towards removal of amalgam fillings and replacing the same with composite or other types of fillings. The removal of amalgam fillings requires utmost care to ensure that patients do not swallow small pieces of the filling or inhale the vapor of mercury during the course. Removal of amalgam fillings is one of the procedures performed at our dental office. Our dental care aims to improve the quality of life of our patients.

Do your gums bleed when you floss? Are your teeth sensitive? Are your gums receding?
These are just some of the signs of Periodontal Disease. None of these symptoms are normal and should be taken very seriously to prevent any serious damage to your teeth and surrounding gum tissue.
Daily brushing and good oral hygiene is an important element in your dental health, however, that alone is not enough. Professional cleanings by your dentist are required to reach places that even daily brushing cannot. In many cases, these hidden pockets are the starting point for long term periodontal problems.
Many people don’t even realize they have this disease until serious damage has already been caused. Fortunately, this disease can now be detected earlier than ever before with the very latest in dental technology.
Dr. Noor incorporates the latest periodontal dental equipment in her office to ensure that her patients receive the very highest quality dental care. Her innovative techniques, allows her to treat this condition in a more comfortable way using a dental laser to virtually eliminate the pain and long term problems associated with periodontal deep cleanings in the past.
Periodontics is another area of dentistry that has been revolutionized by recent advances in dentistry and Dr. Noor is at the forefront of change to provide these benefits to her patients!
Invisalign® is a revolutionary way to help you get even, straight teeth without noticeable, painful metal braces. Virtually undetectable, Invisalign® aligners are made of strong, clear plastic that gradually guides your teeth into perfect alignment. Unlike metal braces, they have no wires or brackets on which your lips or gums can snag. During your first evaluation, our dentists will help you determine if Invisalign® is a good option for you. We’ll then design a treatment plan and take tooth impressions, from which Invisalign® will develop accurate, personalized tooth-straightening devices, called aligners. Aligners slide directly over your teeth and are replaced every two weeks as your teeth shift into place. Depending on your case, you will wear them full-time (except when eating or drinking) for 12 to 24 months no longer than you would wear traditional metal braces and see your dentist about every six weeks for check-ups.
Lumineers™ are porcelain veneers made with patented Cerinate (trademark) porcelain technology. They are the painless alternative to traditiontal veneers and crowns. Lumineers are the permanent cosmetic solution for stained ,chipped , discolored and maligned teeth .In most cases the procedure can be done with no shots and little or no preparation of the tooth . Lumineers can be fabricated to be contact lens thin. This protects and prevents the unnecessary removal of sensitive tooth structure. Lumineers can even be placed over existing crown or bridgework without having to replace them.
In just 2-3 visits to your LUMINEERS dentist, you can have a custom-made smile that is clinically proven to last over 20 years – and it is completely reversible since your natural tooth structure is still intact! Call our office to get your perfect smile today!Lumineers
What should I expect following endodontic treatment?
The root canal system inside your tooth has been thoroughly cleaned, and sealed with an inert material. All the irritants that caused your toothache have been eliminated. A temporary filling has been placed. Please return to your general dentist for the final restoration (crown) as soon as possible.
It is normal to feel some tenderness in the area over the next few days after a root canal as your body undergoes the natural healing process. You may also feel some tenderness in your jaw and corners of your mouth from keeping it open for an extended period of time. These symptoms are temporary and usually respond very well to over-the-counter pain medications. It is important for you to follow the instructions on how to take these medications. Remember that narcotic medications, if prescribed, may make you drowsy, and caution should be exercised in operating dangerous machinery or driving a car after taking them. You may be prescribed antibiotics. Avoid chewing on that side till the final retoration has been placed .
Your tooth may continue to feel slightly different from your other teeth for some time after your root canal treatment has been completed. However, if you have severe pain or pressure that lasts more than a few days, contact your dentist.
